Competition and results
Type of match:
men’s and women’s singles.
16 men, 8 women
The starting lineup of the competition is determined by a random selection during a public draw ceremony.
Each participant plays 4 matches (2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday).
48 matches determine the winners of the PIUTT Trophies.
A Modified Knockout System is used to draw the men’s singles matches.
Men’s singles: 16 players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16).
The winner is the participant who has not lost a single match, and the last place is taken by the participant who has not won a single match. All other places of participants are allocated depending on the sequence of victories and defeats of each participant.
For the 1st round of and women’s singles a Round Robin System (“RR”) is used to draw the matches. Players of women’s singles are organized in 2 groups of 4 players and compete against all other members of the group.
Women’s singles groups: 2 groups of 4 players
Group A (A1, A2, A3, A4)
Group B (B1, B2, B3, B4)
Players of women’s singles are ranked after the group matches according to number of matches won.
For the final round of women’s singles Play-off matches with all places draw are used for participants having the same ranking in the group. The winners of the groups of women’s singles compete for the 1st and 2nd place of the PIUTT, the players with second ranking compete for the 3rd and 4th place, with third ranking – for the 5th and 6th place, with forth ranking – for 7th and 8th place.
