The PCU Photo Contest is a yearly contest where students, athletes, university professionals, hobby photographers and even professional photographers are invited to make photos related to fair play in university sport. Photos can be submitted by filling out the registration form on this website or by posting your picture on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #PCUpic. The winning photographers will be honored with PCU Photo Contest Awards. The registration deadline is 1 November 2023.

CONTEST REGULATIONS

§1. Eligibility

Entering the contest is free and open for students, athlets, university professionals, hobby photographers and professional photographers.


§2. Photo

All techniques are permitted and entries from any digital cameras, including smartphones, are accepted. There is no limit to the number of individual images each artist may submit. The image needs to be taken in the contest year.


§3. Theme

The theme of the Contest is: “Fair Play in University Sports”. Photography should be artistic and related to the theme of the Contest.

§4. Photo file requirements

The photo cannot contain watermarks, copyrights or added logos. Winning entrants must be able to provide a high resolution digital file (the photo resolution should allow printing in a format of at least 30×40 cm).


§5. Application

You can submit your photo by filling out the registration form on this website or by posting your picture on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #PCUpic.


§6. Entry Deadline

The final entry deadline is 1 November 2023.


§7. Compliance

All Applications must be in compliance with the Photo Contest Regulations at all times. The Selection Commission may, at any time, and based on its own appreciation, exclude any Application or any Candidate, if the Selection Commission considers in its reasonable discretion that such Candidate committed a breach of the Rules. Submission of an entry signifies acceptance of all our conditions and privacy policy.


§8. Author Copyright

Author copyright. All entries must be an original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. Each entrant retain the copyright of the submitted images. The entrant certifies the work as his own. By entering the Contest you grant the PCU Committee and its media partners the right for unlimited non-exclusive use for any material you submit, post, upload, email or otherwise transmit for promotional purposes and for reproducing free of charge.


§9. Data Protection

By entering this Contest, you are explicitly consenting to the personal details you have supplied, including email addresses, being held, processed and used by the Contest organizers for purposes associated with this Contest and exhibitions. You acknowledge and accept that entering this Contest means that the status and results of your entry may be made public. The participant guarantees that the submitted photo does not violate the intellectual rights of third parties. In the case of a claim by a third party, the participant is fully responsible for the photo. Photos of people should not violate their general personality rights.

SELECTION

The PCU Committee selects the best 10 photos which are exhibited online. The Photo Contest Selection Commission appoints within these 10 photos the best, second best and third best photo. Decisions within the Selection Commission are taken by majority. In case no decision can be taken, the vote of the President of the Selection Commission is decisive.

AWARDS

The winner is honored with the Alain Verschoren Award, named after Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren, the first Chairman of the PCU Contest Selection Commission. He initiated the idea of the contest as Rector of the University of Antwerp. The 3 best photographers are rewarded financially:

  • 1st place, € 500,00 (Alain Verschoren Award)
  • 2nd place, € 200,00
  • 3rd place, € 100,00
