YERUN Sport Days 2018 program

The YERUN Sport Days were organized from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 April 2018 during the PCU Games at the University of Antwerp. The program included a workshop for professionals on Wednesday, a Yerun dinner for students and professionals on Thursday evening and the complete sports and event program from Wednesday to Friday of the PCU Games for student teams.

 

The YERUN Sport Days program started with the 2018 workshop “YERUN collaboration in the domain of Sport”, attended by professionals of the CUS Roma Tor Vergata, University of Antwerp and PCU Committee.

 

At the 2018 PCU Games Opening Ceremony, former Rector of the University of Antwerp, Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren highlighted in his speech the essence and objectives of the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN). The primary objective of YERUN is to strengthen and develop cooperation in the area of scientific research, academic education and service to society among a cluster of highly-ranked, young universities in Europe on an equal basis and for their common benefit (www.yerun.eu).

 

The Yerun dinner on Thursday was attended by the Yerun members Roma Tor Vergata and the University of Antwerp, together with Panathlon International President, Pierre Zappelli, member of the Panathlon International Board, Paul Standaert, the Executive Board of the PCU Committee and representative of the Financial University of Russia, Gennady Davydov.

 

During the YERUN Sport Days, initiatives for further cooperation and communication were discussed.

First edition YERUN Sport Days

April 29, 2017/in PCU Games, YERUN

The first edition of the YERUN Sport Days ended on Friday 28 April and were closed by YERUN Sport Days chairman Alain Verschoren during the Closing Ceremony at the Grauwzusters Cloister in Antwerp. With a participation from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, The University of Essex, the University Paris Dauphine and the University of Antwerp in the YERUN workshop and the opening of the YERUN Sport Days on Wednesday, the YERUN dinner on Thursday, the closing of the YERUN Sport days on Friday and a participation of 10 YERUN teams in the PCU Games, this first edition was a success. The conclusions of the YERUN workshop to continue the YERUN Sport Days the next years will be forwarded to the YERUN coordinators on occasion of the YERUN meeting in ULM next month.

YERUN Sport Days Dinner

The YERUN Dinner during YERUN Sport days in Antwerp in presence of Paul Standaert, member of the Panathlon International Executive Board, was hold on Thursday, April 27. Dinner was attended by representatives of the University of Antwerp, Paris Dauphine University, University of ESSEX, University of Rome Tor Vergata and PCU Committee. Following up the YERUN workshop, cooperation topis on a sports level were duscussed.

The Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN) is a network of 18 European universities. The primary objective of YERUN is to strengthen and develop cooperation in the area of scientific research, academic education and service to society among a cluster of highly -ranked, young universities in Europe on an equal basis and for their common benefit (www.yerun.eu). The YERUN Sport Days are a collaboration between YERUN, the University of Antwerp and the PCU Committee. The YERUN Sport Days are organized from Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 April 2017 at the University of Antwerp. During these three days, each Yerun member is free to participate in a program including a workshop for professionals on Wednesday, a Yerun dinner for students and professionals on Thursday evening and the complete sports and event program from Wednesday to Friday of the PCU University Games for student teams.
