The exposition Inauguration of the Antwerp University & Panathlon Drawing Contest 2016 and International Graphic Art Competition PI – Domenico Chiesa Foundation was held on May 12, 2017 in the Hotel Rosabianca, Rapallo, Italy. The opening ceremony was initiated by Panathlon International President Pierre Zappelli. The mayor of Rapallo Carlo Bagnasco welcomed the exposition visitors. Words about International Graphic Art Competition came from Maurizio Monego, the Secretary of the PI Domenico Chiesa Foundation Board. The Drawing Contest Inauguration was made by the Chairman of the Selection Commission, Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren, Prorector of the University of Antwerp. During the opening ceremony the voting for the Honourable Commendation of the HQ Panathlon International was organised.
The 1st Exposition took place at the University of Antwerp during the 18th PCU Games from 26 to 28 April 2017. On Wednesday, April 26, the 15 best drawings were exposed during the Opening Ceremony of the PCU Games. The Selection Commission of the Drawing Contest appointed within the final 15 drawings 3 winners (“Olympiad”, “Sport uniting the world”, “Flanders’ wheels”) and Honorable Commendation (“Gymnasts”). The artists of the 3 best drawings are awarded financially.
During Opening Ceremony the extra voting for the “Honorable Commendation of the PCU Games 2017 Participants” was organized. The voters’ choice coincided with the opinion of the Selection Commission. Participants chose by a considerable majority vote the drawing “Flanders’ wheels”.
On Friday, April 28, the drawings were exposed in the beautiful hall of one of the of the Antwerp University Campus, Grauwzusters Cloister, where the PCU Committee General Assembly 2017 and Closing Ceremony of the PCU Games 2017 took place.
More than 400 players, delegation members, volunteers, officials and staff members visited exposition.
We are delighted to announce that selection of the 15 best drawings will be exposed during the PCU Games from 26 to 28 April 2017 in University of Antwerp.
The PCU Games participants will be invited to vote for their favourite drawing. Lucky voters will stand to win a gift from University of Antwerp in a voters’ draw during the Opening Ceremony.
Voters’ choice will be announced at the Closing Ceremony on April 28.
Students from more than 450 art universities and university colleges worldwide are invited to create a drawing related to fair play in university sport. With the contest, the PCU Committee aims to develop a synergy between the worlds of student art and student sport on an international level, implementing the first fundamental principle of the Olympic Charter which states, inter alia, that Olympism blends sport with culture and education.
The contest is not limited to students from art universities and university colleges, each student worldwide is welcome to enter the contest. The 3 best artists receive a financial reward.

On Tuesday 31 January 2017 the Contest Selection Commission met in Antwerp, chaired by Contest President Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren. Among the 15 best drawings of the 2016 contest, the winning artworks were selected. The Selection Commission President expressed his gratitude to all participants to make this first edition a success!
The winning artworks are “Olympiad” from Yana Ivanchina (1st place / RUS), “Sport uniting the world” from Eric Djivo (2nd place / BENIN) and “Flanders’ wheels” from Roxanne Bral (3rd place / BEL). The Selection Commission additionaly expressed an honorable commondation for the artwork “Gymnasts” from Catherine Borisova (RUS). The Antwerp University & Panathlon Drawing Contest is a yearly international contest where students from minimum 300 art universities and colleges worldwide are invited to create a drawing related to fair play in university sport. The PCU Committee selects the best 15 drawings which will be exposed in a number of venues. The Drawing Contest Selection Commission appoints within these 15 drawings the best, second best and third best drawing. The artists of the 3 best drawings are awarded financially.
