Selection of the 15 best drawings #PCUContest was presented during the PCU Chess Cup at the Hof van Liere University of Antwerp for the last time this year.
The Honorable commendation of the PCU Chess participants was given by a majority votes to the painting “The impossible is possible” by Anastasia Garkovets from the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Art and Design, Ukraine.
After a long weekend of 8 rounds of Rapid Chess, the first edition of the PCU International University Chess Cup in Antwerp came to a conclusion. As expected, a high level of sportmanship was displayed.
The final podium of this first edition consist of:
- Ekatarina Diakonota – Financial University (RUS)
- Ezra Terryn – University of Antwerp (BEL)
- Sergej Golikov – Financial University (RUS)
Yesterday the 1st edition of the PCU International University Chess Cup kicked off at the University of Antwerp’s Hof van Liere. PCU Committee Secretary General Prof. Dr. Gabriel Kotchofa, newly elected FISU EC member, and Prof. Dr. Alain Verschoren, Honorary Rector of the University of Antwerp welcomed all participants and guests after which Dr. Koenraad Keignaert, chairman of the PCU Chess Cup Organizing Committee, officially opened the tournament.

This weekend (6-8 december) the University of Antwerp’s Hof van Liere will be hosting the first edition of the PCU International University Chess Cup, where 16 players will face off across the chess board.
On Friday the Opening Ceremony will be held, as well as a Welcoming Tournament in Blitz Chess and an exposition of the PCU Drawing Contest.
On Saturday and Sunday the main competition of the PCU Chess Cup will take place, in the format of Rapid Chess. Participants are welcomed from Germany, England, Russia, India and Belgium.
A Swiss System formula will decide on the winner by Sunday. Meanwhile we hope that our participants will create new international friendships and will participate in a spirit of Fair Play.
