PCU Games 2020 (on venue) cancelled, PCUGAMES@HOME

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PCU Committee regrets to announce the cancellation of the 2020 PCU Games (on venue), but a valuable online alternative will be ensured in October 2020, PCUGAMES@HOME. Details about the PCUGAMES@HOME are announced by the start of September 2020. The PCU Committee made its decision to cancel the PCU Games (on venue) based upon the following reasons:

• Impossibility of organizing Basketball, Futsal and Volleyball Games while keeping “physical distance”.
• Uncertainty about the possibility of a “second wave” or new outbreaks of the virus, possibly causing new restrictions locally and internationally.
• Financial uncertainty for participants purchasing travel tickets and accommodation.
• Uncertainty about the possibility of organizing “big” indoor sporting events in Belgium in October.
• Uncertainty about the possibility of organizing social “side events”, like visits of tourist attractions, parties, …
• Uncertainty about financial situation in many countries (and possible funding of their participation).

All the factors above will result in a lesser number of teams participating, leading to a lesser experience for those teams who would attend. In addition, 2 editions being held in a 6 months interval in the same academic year, would also impact the number of teams participating in the 2021 edition.
