BENIN REGION ‘DES COLLINES’ – EDUCATION PROBLEMS

The region “Des Collines” is one of the 12 departments of Benin and was established in 1999 when the region was split off from the Zou department. Since 2008, Salvou is the capital. The region is confronted with a lower average of students attending higher education compared to the rest of the country, resulting in a poor economic development of the region. Many young people flee the region for the more prosperous regions near the seaside, impacting on the development of the region.
